What Even is Active Rehabilitation?
Active rehabilitation is an evidence-based, scientifically researched physical rehabilitation program designed to help people overcome injuries and get back to the activities they love. Active rehabilitation is facilitated by a kinesiologist - experts in the science of human movement.
Kinesiologists use their understanding of human movement to pinpoint imbalances and weakness in your body. For example, they will highlight muscle groups that are overused, underused, or used for the wrong function. Understanding your muscle imbalances is the starting point for correcting muscle weaknesses and building strength to reduce recurrent injuries.
To start your active rehabilitation program, schedule an assessment with one of our kinesiologist team members. Together, you will discuss your injury (how it occurred, your symptoms, your current level of function, etc.) and your health background. Based on objective measures such as your fitness goals and your schedule, your kinesiologist will suggest a treatment plan for active rehab.
Active rehab is for anyone with:
- An open ICBC claim
- Neck and shoulder pain
- Lower back pain
- Workplace injuries and return to work programs
- Long term disability and chronic injury
Your commitment to your active rehab program will get results. Recovery from your injury, increased strength, improved athletic endurance, and increased self-confidence are expected outcomes of active rehab.
