How do I start with active rehab?

You can start active rehab with a doctor or physio’s recommendation. They must provide a referral note or make a recommendation for active rehab in a report.

What happens at the first active rehab session?

The first appointment is an assessment. Your kinesiologist will ask you a series of questions about your body, your injuries, and your function. They will assess your range of motion (flexibility), strength, and posture and may have time to prescribe some exercises for you. The assessment is 1.5 hours long.

What should I wear or bring to an active rehab assessment or session?

Wear comfortable clothes for exercising and closed toe shoes. Bring a water bottle.

Do Kinesiologists have insurance?

Yes we are covered by the BC Association of Kinesiologists. We are covered by commercial general liability. Our space is also covered by CGL.

How long are active rehab session?

Sessions are 1 hour long one-on-one with a Kinesiologist.

How much does ICBC active rehab cost?

ICBC covers most of the cost of the active rehab sessions. The client pays a $15 dollar user fee per session + GST (in some cases the user fee is reimbursed to the client by ICBC).

I was in a car accident over a year ago, can I still get funding for an active rehab program from ICBC?

ICBC keeps your claim open for 2 years, unless you have already settled. Your doctor can help you determine if active rehab would work for you.
